Frequently Asked Questions
Below are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about MCCSC Online.
-
No. We have a limited number of spots available for MCCSC Online, so we cannot accept every applicant. We look at a variety of information when determining whether to accept a student. Overall, we want to make sure that students we accept are those we feel will benefit most from the opportunity and will be successful in the online learning environment.

We are partnering with Edmentum to use their EdOptions Academy for the online teaching. The courses are taught by Indiana-certified teachers. Depending on the course, some of the instruction is live, or synchronous. However, in those cases, students do have the opportunity to watch recordings of the lesson if that is works better for their schedule. When courses are not live, the Edmentum teachers share recordings of unit overview sessions they have created for each unit in the course. They also have a Google resource page that contains extra resources of course content created by the teachers. All of the resources are created by Edmentum for this program. In addition, students can request live, on-demand help from a teacher during normal business hours each day. This enables them to meet live online with a teacher to ask questions and receive support, within a few minutes of their request.
-
Assignments may include discussion threads, papers, unit activities, mastery tests, and end of semester exams.
-
Similar to in-person students using Canvas quizzes, some assignments are auto-graded by the computer. Teachers read and grade papers, discussions, and other activities. Each student and parent/guardian receives regular progress reports from their teachers so they know how they are doing. At the end of the semester, grades are sent to MCCSC to include on report cards.
-
APEX courses have no live instruction or support provided unless an MCCSC teacher or paraprofessional is live in the classroom with the students to help them. EdOptions Academy provides some live instruction and recordings as well as live, on demand support from teachers of the course. Both programs allow students to work completely online and at their own pace.
