(Bloomington, IN) -- The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce and its YPB — Young Professionals Bloomington — program created the Ten Under 40 awards to honor 10 upwardly-mobile young professionals who exemplify the qualities found in Bloomington’s younger generation. The Monroe County Community School Corporation is proud that two honorees have active roles within the MCCSC system.

Lauren Rapacki Keenan is a recent hire at MCCSC as she has taken on the role of instructional coach, after her role as a consultant to MCCSC.

“When I found out I was selected it was validation that my husband and I made the right decision to move my growing family back to Bloomington a little over a year ago.  The opportunity to work at MCCSC as the Corporation's Instructional coach became a reality right around the time I was honored, and it was an opportunity I could not pass up. I thought it was synergistic given that I have worked with MCCSC as a consultant over the years but now I can be more deeply rooted in the education decisions that will eventually impact my sons as they too go through the MCCSC school system. I don’t think there is

a greater gift then to serve the community you love, doing what you love, which for me is to inspire all in the teaching and learning of mathematics,” said Keenan.

Dr. Sarah Ragonese is a licensed psychologist and has served as a school psychologist at MCCSC since 2007. She has vast experience conducting psychoeducational assessments, developing and implementing research-based intervention programs, providing individual and group counseling services to students and developing and presenting professional development trainings.

“Receiving the 10 Under 40 Award from the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce was definitely an unexpected yet appreciated recognition. I have had the pleasure of working for MCCSC for over twelve years and each year is new and different from the last. One constant is that being entrusted to work with the best students and educators in Bloomington each day continues to motivate me to be a better psychologist, said Ragonese.

“We are very fortunate to have so many talented individuals working throughout MCCSC, and to have two recognized in such a way is worth celebrating,” said Dr. Markay Winston, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.

The annual 10 Under 40 Awards recognizes young professionals in the community who have made positive impacts in their organizations and in the community.  Nominations are made from Chamber and community members, and a selection committee determines the ten honorees.
