The 36th Annual Miniplay Festival

We are now accepting submissions for their 36th Annual MiniPlay Festival, with a submission deadline of March 2nd. The 2020 MiniPlay Festival theme is EXPLORERS and is open to area students in 1st - 8th grades. The winning playwrights (1st, 2nd, 3rd places) will get to walk the red carpet and have their play performed in a staged reading by adult actors on April 5. The reading is followed by an ice cream and pizza party for playwrights, their families, friends, and teachers. First-place winners will also receive a $50 cash prize from the BPP.

“MiniPlays was the first-ever BPP education program - it was launched more than 30 years ago and is my favorite of all the arts education initiatives that we undertake because it gets kids telling their stories through the eyes of unique characters of their creation," said BPP's Producing Artistic Director Chad Rabinovitz.

Submissions for the 2020 MiniPlay Festival must:

  • Include name, age, school, teacher, grade level, and email/phone number on the first page
  • Be 1-10 pages long
  • Require no more than 4 actors to play all roles
  • Use the theme of EXPLORERS in a clear way
  • Make no use of guns or violence onstage
  • Be submitted to the BPP by 5pm on March 2, 2020
