New MCCSC Board Member – District 6
(Bloomington, IN.) – The Monroe County Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees held a special meeting on Thursday, January 20, 2022. The special meeting followed a public work session where the Board interviewed four candidates for the vacant District 6 position that was created by the resignation of former Board Member Jacinda Townsend Gides, whose current term began January 1, 2021 and ended December 31, 2024. At the special meeting, the MCCSC Board of School Trustees voted 6-0 to approve the recommendation to appoint Mr. Ross Grimes to fill the District 6 Board vacancy.
MCCSC Board of School Trustees President, Brandon Shurr stated, “I am thankful for all the four qualified candidates who interviewed for the vacant board seat. The board voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Mr. Ross Grimes to fill the District 6 board seat. I look forward to working with him to advance the Board’s goals and priorities.”
Mr. Grimes has lived in Bloomington since 1985 and is currently an Account Executive at EarthCam. He has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Mr. Grimes has been married for 28 years and has 6 children, 3 have graduated from Bloomington High School North, one currently at North, one at Tri-North Middle School, and one at University Elementary School. When Mr. Grimes and his family are not at sporting events, they love to travel the countryside with their camper. Mr. Grimes has served as PTO President at University Elementary and volunteered during the MCCSC Referendum campaign.
Mr. Grimes stated, “I am excited to start my role as an MCCSC school board member because I am a firm believer in public education and believe in bringing the best possible experiences to our students”.
Mr. Grimes will be sworn in at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of School Trustees on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at the Co-Lab located at 555 E Miller Dr, Bloomington, IN 47401. Mr. Grimes’ appointment will be for the remainder of the District 6 term through December 31, 2024.
