South AP Teacher Milks Selected as 2018-2019 Jacobs Educator

Congratulations to Bloomington High School South AP science teacher Dr. Kirstin Milks on being selected as the Jacobs Educator by the Indiana University School of Education. Outstanding teachers from across the U.S. who are at the cutting edge of integrating technology to support problem-based and/or inquiry learning classrooms are eligible for this award. Each Jacobs Educator will be asked to provide their expertise to the Indiana University School of Education during the year they are selected as an award recipient. This expertise will involve:

  • Participation in preparing research-to-practice brief with Indiana University faculty member by working with a selected faculty member translate their research findings into a two-page summary by teachers for teachers.
  • Help edit video of researcher-teacher conversation to be a companion to the research-to-practice brief.

In a letter informing Dr. Milks of the announcement, the Barbara B. Jacobs Chair of Education and Technology Cindy Hmelo-Silver state, "The competition was very strong this year, with numerous applicants from across the United States. We were extremely impressed with your application materials."
