Two MCCSC Students Named National Merit Scholars

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced this week that two of the ten National Merit Finalists from the Monroe County Community School Corporation were awarded National Merit Scholarships.
Linnea Fraser from Bloomington High School North and Clarissa Ren of Bloomington High School South both earned these prestigious awards. As detailed in the National Merit Scholarship press release, the two high school juniors were among a group of 1.4 million students who took the  "2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. In September 2014, about 16,000 Semifi nalists were named on a state-representational basis in numbers proportional to each state’s percentage of the national total of graduating high school seniors. Semifi nalists were the highest-scoring program entrants in each state and represented less than one percent of the nation’s seniors."
Congratulations to these outstanding students!
