2014 Career Guidance Award Winner

Amy Morwick, Career Information Support Specialist/Career Counselor at Hoosier Hills Career Center was named as the 2014 Career Guidance Award winner from the Indiana Association for Career and Technical Education. Mrs. Morwick began a "road show" going into the classrooms of eighth and ninth grade students in the five school districts served informing them of the opportunities at HHCC in deciding four-year plans through high school.

Instead of the "normal” Open House, she implemented a Career Pathway Fair; a trade show of colleges, trade industries, and military representatives to heighten awareness of career options upon graduation.

This past year she was a part of the Leadership Development Program offered at Purdue University and completed a marketing project that resulted in an increased enrollment of 15% for the 2014-2015 school year. Her efforts to promote CTE have her preparing a fall counselor meeting which ensures open lines of communication with the numerous counselors across the 8 schools that she serves. She outlines up to date information and offers information about the Technical Honors Diploma to heighten awareness of student achievement. Her efforts this past year were highlighted by the creation of a caring and sharing event, where the SOS team of students worked to do a clothing and food drive for the less advantaged students we serve.
