After graduating from Indiana University in May 2000, she served as a classroom teacher at Broadview and Summit elementary schools until 2006. From then until 2014, she served as an assistant principal and then principal of Grandview Elementary School, where she enabled the school begin the process of pursuing S.T.E.M (Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) certification by the Indiana Department of Education.
In 2014, Lily was appointed to her current position as principal of Unionville Elementary School. There, she cultivated dozens of external partnerships that resulted in an increase in resources and professional learning experiences for staff and students while yielding over $50,000 in grants and other monetary support. She facilitated the creation of an EARTH school curriculum framework that incorporates the concepts of Environment, Arts, Resources, Technology, and Health. Under her leadership, Unionville became a S.T.E.M certified school and brought home the 2018 Indiana Outdoor Classroom of the Year, 2019 National Blue Ribbon, and Indiana Department of Education 4-Star School and Gold Digger awards for the school.
