MCCSC Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):

We believe that students deserve a safe and inspiring school culture and future where there is empathy, respect for one another, and opportunities for all students to grow academically, behaviorally, social, and emotionally. Through the MCCSC’s Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Initiative, our students and teachers will learn and practice social and emotional skills through the use of the Second Step or SchoolConnect curriculum. Some examples of these skills are: self-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Discussions that focus on creating a supportive learning community, developing self-awareness and self-management, building relationships and resolving conflicts, and preparing for college and the workforce are happening throughout the school year. We see application of these skills across home and school and encourage you to talk with your adolescent about what they are learning with Second Step or School-Connect.
