    Fall Semester

    ·         Fall Picnic and Open House – Here’s a chance to meet parents and teachers in a fun, relaxed setting. First, meet your child’s teachers and see the classrooms. Afterward, join us for our PTO Picnic. Food from the grill will be provided by PTO, families bring a dish to share. Look for more details on what to bring soon. Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Open house hours: 5:00-5:30pm K-3 classrooms / 5:30-6:00 4-6 classrooms. PTO Picnic 5:30-7:00pm

    ·         Veteran’s Day/Grandparent Appreciation Day – Enjoy a musical tribute to veterans provided by Marlin students, following a visit from a grandparent or grand-friend to your child’s classroom. Light refreshments provided by Marlin PTO. Date and Time: TBA

    ·         Marlin Craft Fair – Looking for a one-of-a-kind holiday gift? Join in the fun at the Marlin Craft Fair. Support local artists and craftsman or rent a booth to sell or display your creations. Date and Time: TBA

    Spring Semester

    ·         Spring Carnival – Food, fun, games and prizes! Our annual carnival is the PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Each classroom will have carnival games, where you earn tickets for prizes. We also have a raffle and silent auction for themed gift baskets. Date and Time: TBA

    ·         Education Day – Marlin students in grades K-3 meet local artists and experts to learn a variety of skills and concepts. Last year’s organizations included IU Dept. of Chemistry, Monroe County Humane Association, Bloomington Hospital Healthmobile, Bloomington Parks and Recreation, Duke Energy and the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center. Date and Time: TBA

    ·         Dance Party – Marlin students in grades 4-6 will enjoy an awesome dance party! Fun DJ and light refreshments provided. Date and Time: TBA

    ·         Teacher Appreciation Week – Show your child’s teacher you care by participating in our week-long celebration of teachers. Bring in flowers, provide a dish to share, or find new ways to show your appreciation. Date and Time: TBA

    Ongoing

    ·         PTO Meetings – Held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month in the Marlin library, 5:30-6:30pm. Childcare available for children age 4 and up at no cost but we won’t turn down a free-will donation!

    ·         Skate Night – “Eight wheels of fun” await on the first Tuesday of each month at Western Skateland, beginning September 4th, 6:30-8:30 pm. Skate Night is a long tradition at Marlin and is a great way to meet families and friends. A portion of admission goes to Marlin PTO.

    Clip and Save

    ·         Box Tops 4 Education. Little coupons add up in a Big Way with this easy fundraiser. Clip and collect the Box Tops coupons off of your favorite product and send it to school with your Marlin student. A collection basked is placed just outside the door to the school library. You can also shop the Box Tops marketplace: www.boxtops4education.com/earn/marketplace/

    ·         Labels for Education. On each package of Campbell’s product (including Goldfish and many other brands) is a label, which will help us earn reward points to purchase school supplies.

    Shopping Rewards

    ·         Marsh Fresh Ideas for Education. Register your Marsh card to help earn money for Marlin students. Visit the customer service desk or do it yourself online by following these three easy steps:

    o   Go to www.freshideasforeducation.com

    o   Enter Marlin’s school code: 41844

    o   Enter the 12-digit number found on the back of your Marsh card

    ·         Kroger Cards. Pick up a Kroger card from the Marlin office to get started earning money for Marlin students. Each time you visit Kroger, stop by the customer service desk to put a desired amount on the card. Then use the card to pay for your groceries.

    ·         Target Red Cards. Sign up for a Target Red Card and designate Marlin Elementary as the recipient of cash rewards every time you shop!

    Uniquely Marlin

    ·         Art to Remember. Purchase unique gift items featuring the artwork of your Marlin student. Mugs, t-shirts, magnets designed to preserve the creativity of your child. Fall Semester. Date: TBA

    ·         Spirit Wear. Show your Marlin pride by purchasing t-shirts, sweatshirts, and more for the whole family. Available all year.
