• Welcome to Marlin Elementary School from Marlin PTO!

School success and parental involvement go hand in hand. In fact, research says parents are a child’s first and most important teacher. As a parent of a Marlin student, you are automatically a member of the Marlin Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Make the most of your child’s academic career at Marlin by supporting and participating in the school community. The transition to public school can be challenging for any parent or caregiver. One great way to stay actively involved in your child’s education is to be an active participant in the PTO.

There are lots of ways to stay involved through PTO activities. The best way to stay informed is to attend monthly PTO meetings. At these meetings we will talk about issues that concern parents, hear reports from the principal and a teacher representative, and learn about fundraising activities that support education at Marlin. As a parent volunteer, you may want to supervise a game at Field Day, run a Carnival game, sell arts and crafts at the Marlin Craft Fair, help out in the library, or bake cookies to show your appreciation for teachers. Whether you have a lot or a little time to give, there are always opportunities for parent involvement.

Fundraisers are an important aspect of the Marlin PTO mission, which is to support the teaching staff by providing funds and materials that will broaden the educational experience of each student at Marlin. Money raised through the PTO goes toward purchasing books for the library and classrooms, new educational technology, scholarships for Bradford Woods, classroom supplies, special teacher projects, field trips, playground equipment and sponsoring community groups who participate in student learning for Education Day. If you own or work for a business, we also welcome sponsorship for PTO events. Contact Amy Coy, PTO President, to learn more.

Parents can start supporting PTO fundraising simply by shopping, clipping, and eating delicious pizza! Marlin PTO collects “Boxtops for Education” and “Campbell’s Labels for Education.” Purchase pizza on the designated Aver’s Pizza Night and a portion of your purchase goes back to the PTO. Marlin PTO also receives money when you register your shopper card with Kroger, Marsh, and Target. Show your Marlin pride by purchasing Marlin spirit wear.

The Marlin community is serious about family fun! The PTO supports a number of events that bring the families closer together. We kick off each year with a school picnic in August, celebrate grandparents and honor veterans on Veteran’s Day, host a craft fair, sponsor a monthly skate night at Western Skateland throughout the year where each student attending from Marlin gets a prize, and end the year with a splash at the Marlin Carnival.

Parents will receive regular updates from the PTO regarding events and fundraisers. Just watch for the yellow paper.
