Hello! I hope this message finds you well! My name is Carson Conrad and I am a member of Camp Kesem at Indiana University. I am also a graduate of Bloomington High School South! I am reaching out to you on behalf of Camp Kesem IU to let you know about a unique resource we offer to children whose parents have been impacted by cancer.
What is Camp Kesem?
Camp Kesem is a national non-profit organization made up of professionals and student volunteers committed to supporting children through and beyond their parent or guardian’s cancer journey. As a national organization, Camp Kesem has over 20 years of experience bringing top quality programs that have a significant impact on children and families. Our camps are designed to allow children the opportunity to find support, have fun, and feel safe, loved, and respected. We are one of over 130 active Camp Kesem chapters throughout the United States, and our program is staffed by student volunteers from Indiana University.
Camp Kesem IU will offer its annual camp in Summer 2021 on a virtual platform, open to children from central and southern Indiana. Our camp is offered free of charge, and it is available for children ages 6-18 years old whose parent or guardian has or had cancer. However, we offer more than one week of summer camp! We have fall and spring events to bring together campers and families with student volunteers, and provide support touchpoints, such as birthday cards and care packages throughout the year.
