PTO General Information
Programs and Events
The family picnic is a great chance to meet other students and families and enjoy a delicious meal on the playground. Families can bring a picnic or purchase food from one of the food trucks on site. There is also information available about various school activities and community organizations that offer services and activities for youth. It’s a nice way to enjoy an evening outdoors with your fellow Rockets and Badgers!
Teacher Appreciation Lunch
The teachers, administrators, and staff work hard every day to provide a safe and positive learning environment for our kids. To say thanks, the PTO organizes a special lunch in December and May. Families are asked to donate food items or cash for gift card prizes, and each year our families create a delicious spread! Information on donations and volunteering is sent out via the PTO e-newsletter and in communications from teachers or room parents.
Schools are a great place to build community, for kids and adults. To help our families better connect, the PTO offers an online directory through the My School Anywhere website and app. Families can opt to have their names and basic contact information listed in the directory, which is only made available to other Rogers-Binford families. Go to myschoolanywhere.com to access the directory and download the app on your phone for quick access on the go.
Skate Night / Play and Donate
Keep the kids active and raise money for the PTO with our skate nights and play and donate events. Each quarter, we host a skate night at Western Skateland, and play and donate events at Lazerlite Laser Tag and Urban Air throughout the year. Just mention that you are with the Rogers-Binford PTO and a portion of your admission fee is donated back to the PTO. Look for upcoming events on the main PTO calendar.
Warm up in the winter months at the annual chili supper! Families can enjoy a delicious meal, bid on silent auction items, and enjoy visiting with our school community. This event requires donations for the supper and for the silent auction gift baskets. Information on donating and volunteering for the event is sent out via the PTO e-newsletter and in communications from teachers or room parents.
The final event of the year is also one of our biggest fundraisers, and one of the most fun! The spring carnival features numerous games, student performances, activities, prizes, and food. Families purchase passes in advance or at the door, and those passes provide “punches” are redeemed for food items, games, and certain activities.
This is a major event for our PTO, requiring many volunteers, donations, and sponsors. Your help is what makes this event successful. Committee chairs are needed starting in December, and sponsors are solicited in the early spring. Event volunteers and donations are organized a few weeks before the carnival, and information is sent from teachers or room parents, as well as the PTO e-newsletter.
If you are interested in volunteering on the carnival committee, please contact our carnival chair.
The Rogers-Binford PTO meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month (with some exceptions for holidays and school closings) and rotate between the Rogers and Binford libraries. The PTO calendar has every meeting listed, with location. Every parent or guardian is a member of the PTO and encouraged to attend meetings to learn about upcoming events, what’s happening at school (that your student may not have told you about), and share ideas on how to make the student and parent experience better. The PTO would like for every classroom to be represented, so if you are a room parent or can volunteer as a point of contact for your class, please attend and share information with your teacher and class families.
Please join us for PTO meetings each month, your input is appreciated!
