• Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The Monroe County Community School Corporation believes that students deserve a safe and inspiring school culture and future where there is empathy, respect for one another, and opportunities for all students to grow academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally.

With funding provided by the Lilly Endowment, Inc., our teachers and students are empowered with specific skills for stress management, fostering healthy friendships/relationships, conflict resolution, and emotional self-awareness through programming for all MCCSC students. This comprehensive approach to social and emotional learning will result in improved academic achievement, attendance, and student self-regulation, ultimately creating students who are college, career, and LIFE ready.  Each school has an SEL team that works in tandem with the school's behavior and academic teams to provide support and intervention at all tiers of need.

Our SEL initiative follows a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework and aligns with both the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) and the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) SEL Competencies.
