Outdoor Education
The Monroe County Community School Corporation values the experiences our students learn through opportunities that are unique to the outdoors. Visits to Bradford Woods, Griffy Lake, Leonard Springs, and Camp Emma Lou provide students in grades four through six outdoor learning experiences that they could not receive in the traditional classroom setting. In order to provide these opportunities, our corporation partners with Bloomington Parks and Recreation, Indiana University and Bradford Woods, and the Enis Furley Foundation.
The curriculum follows Indiana grade level standards in Social Studies, Science, English Language Arts, and Employability Skills.

Application Overview
Dear Class of 2021,
Online applications for the 2020-21 LOTS Senior program are now available. All applications are due on or before Friday, June 12, 2020. The LOTS Senior program began in 1982 and is part of the MCCSC Outdoor Education Program curricula. It provides an opportunity for selected high school seniors to receive leadership training and to accompany a fifth-grade class to Bradford Woods for its outdoor education experience. The LOTS Senior program is an integral part of the MCCSC outdoor education program due to the role the LOTS Seniors have in the overall camp experience for the fifth-grade students.
Applicants are asked to complete an online application and essay, select five references to submit online recommendations on your behalf, and sign up on Doodle Poll for a virtual interview on June 23, 24, or 25. You may find all necessary links and additional information using the links on this Outdoor Education web page or in the email message.
- Application and essay: Please complete ALL sections of the online application, including uploading an essay about why you should be selected as a LOTS Senior.
