My name is Jasmine Mirdamadi, and I am a PhD student at Indiana University in the School of Public Health. I am putting together a free week-long summer day camp for high school girls, called “Girls with Nerve”, as part of my National Science Foundation graduate student fellowship. The goal of the camp is to empower high school girls to explore human neuroscience. The camp will integrate communal aspects of public health with STEM learning through hands-on activities and research lab experience. Camp attendees will receive mentorship from female graduate students and faculty that continues beyond the camp, creating a support system that will enhance recruitment and retention of women in STEM fields.
The camp will take place in the School of Public Health for 5 days (Monday-Friday) in July.
