Stems
Out Side of the Stem
The out side of the stem is mainly green or brown. The feel of the stem is soft, sticky, fairly stiff or hard. The stem supports the whole plant. There are two kinds of stems a non-woody stem and a woody stem. Such as a tree has a stem too. A woody stem fells hard, sometimes scratchy, and sometimes lumpy. Most non-woody plants die over the winter. Unlike the tree has a 75%25 % chance of dyeing.
Inside of the Stem
On the inside of the stem, there is Phloem and Xylem. The tree also has Phloem and Xylem. It also has a heartwood witch is the center of the tree, Sapwood and Growth layer. There are also rings on the inside that tell it’s age.
Function
One way the stem functions is the way Phloem and Xylem run up and down the stem. Phloem carries food, minerals, and water. Xylem cells form a new growth layer every year witch those rings are called annual rings.
