Introducing Mrs. Susan K. Nowlin
Drum roll, please!
Hello students,
I am Mrs. Nowlin, and I will be your language arts teacher for both seventh and eighth grades. I want you to know a few things about my life, my educational background, and my teaching experience.
First, I think I have a terrific family. My husband, two sons, and I moved to Bloomington from Wisconsin in 1980. In addition to my two sons, I have a daughter-in-law and grand-daughter. Since we enjoy many family-related activities, I feel fortunate that my family lives close enough to see them often.
Next, I have some favorite things I like to do. Reading leads the list. I love reading for fun and relaxation. Learning new things and getting lost in a good book are special treats for me. Other activities that I enjoy are solving crossword puzzles, needle work, exercising, taking long walks, and sitting on Marco Island's sandy beach watching the changes in the ocean, the jumping dolphins, and the diving pelicans.
My education includes a B.A. in American Literature from DePauw University. I received my M.S. from Indiana University, plus 30 additional hours. I am certified in Gifted and Talented Education. In addition, I have taken a 20-hour course in using the Socratic seminar in the classroom.
I have taught in Michigan, Delaware, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Overall, I have taught 19 years for the MCCSC. My experience includes a variety of class levels and three subjects. I have taught sixth through ninth grades, inclusion classes, ALPs classes, and language arts, writing skills, and social studies.
Enough about me! I am eager to get to know you. Please free to drop me an email.
I am looking forward to spending time with you.
Mrs. Nowlin
