Jacqueline Woodson was born on February 12 in Columbus, Ohio. She then moved to Greenville, South Carolina and stayed there until she was about 7 years old. She then moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she currently lives. She has a daughter named Toshi.
Jacqueline Woodson often writes about difficult issues that young people face and characters who feel out of place.
Ms. Woodson has won several awards including The Caldecott Medal, the Coretta Scott King Award and the Newberry Honor Medal. Some of her works include Show Way, Coming Home Soon, Behind You, Locomotion, Hush, The Other Side and Miracle's Boys.

Cornelia Funke
Cornelia Funke was born in 1958 in Dorsten, Westphalia. Later
she moved to Hamburg, Germany. As a child she dreamed of becoming an astronaut. As
an adult she worked as a social worker, a board game designer and a children's book illustrator.
Cornelia loved to tell stories and at the age of 35 decided to become a full time writer.
She has written over 40 books including The Thief Lord, Dragon Rider, Inkheart, Inkspell
and the Ghosthunter series. Cornelia Funke quickly became one of the most
popular children's authors in Germany. However, she was basically unknown in the United States.
Thanks to a devoted bilingual (German/English) fan of Cornelia Funke, we can now enjoy her wonderful books in English.
