Physical and
Life Science: Classroom Management
A. Course Overview:
This course will give the student an overview of the fields of the physical and life sciences. Students will be introduce to a variety of lab techniques used both in the field and in the laboratory. Students will be introduced the wide variety of careers based on these sciences.
B. Expectations for the Students:
1. Students should arrive at class with paper, pen, pencil and textbook everyday.
2. Students will treat each other and the teacher with respect.
3. Homework is expected to be handed in on time. Late homework will be accepted up to the following class but will be reduced by 10% of original value. After we have tested, late work will not be accepted.
4. Students are expected to be in attendance each day the class meets.
C. Attendance and Tardy Policy:
1. If you are absent it is your
responsibility to find out what you missed. You are to do this before or after
school or prior to class starting or at the end of class.
2. When tardy, we will enforce the rules as
stated in your Student Handbook.
D. Make-up Exams and Homework Missed Due to Absence:
1. Students will be permitted one day per excused day of absence to make-up exams, quizzes, and homework missed during absence. Homework, quizzes or exams that were due on the day of absence are to be handed-in or test taken on day of return.
2. Because you forget to ask for missed work will not excuse your work from being late.
E. Grading:
1. Your grade will be based on labs, daily assignments, special projects, quizzes and exams. Correct spelling and punctuation are essential on all work.
2. Grading scale is as follows:
A = 90 - 100% C = 70 - 79% F = 59% and under
B = 80 - 89 % D = 60 - 69%
Your grade will be based on the following: 50% Tests & quizzes, 25 % on labs and article reviews, and 25 % on homework..
