MCCSC SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS EMPLOYMENT
PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
In order to be a Substitute Teacher, you must hold either a valid Indiana Teachers License or a valid Indiana Substitute Permit, have completed 60 credit hours of college education and pass the a Limited Criminal History background check.
HIRING PROCESS--turn into Human Resources office 3 days prior to orientation meeting
1. The completed application for MCCSC substitute teaching
Submit a resume and 2 letters of reference verifying experience in a child-centered environment
3. Attend a Substitute Orientation Meeting—need to pre-register at 330-7700, ext 3446
APPLICATION FILE—turn in at orientation meeting
**Along with the application, resume & letters of reference mentioned above**
Certification—a valid Indiana Teacher’s License , a valid Indiana Substitute Teacher’s Permit OR Substitute Teacher’s Permit application (completed during orientation)
College Grade Transcripts—can be from the internet with printed name and must show at least 60 completed hours
Universal Precautions--attend an in-service at time of orientation or provide proof of
attendance from another source, must be less than one year old
Identification—copy of passport OR a copy of driver’s license, social security card and birth certificate
Must pass a limited Criminal History report—at no charge through the Substitute Office
Indiana State Teacher’s Retirement Number, if applicable
Money Order for $15.00 , made out to State of Indiana, if need to acquire sub permit
SUBSTITUTE PAY SCALE
FULL DAY Substitute Teaching (3.6 hours or more)
$70.00 - with valid Indiana Teacher License
$60.00 - with Substitute Certificate
HALF DAY Substitute Teaching (3.5 hours or less)
$35.00 - with valid Indiana Teacher License
$30.00 - with Substitute Certificate
