  • Bloomington Hospital -
    • Internships are in high demand at the hospital so you must apply early for placements in the fall.
      • Students must follow application procedures outlined on the hospital website. (see links below)
      • Copies of applications need to be sent to BHSN Service-Learning Coordinator along with an e-mail informing us of your intent to apply for an internship at Bloomington Hospital.
    • Applications should be submitted in May for placements next fall.

  • City of Bloomington Internship placements. Students interested in an internship within the City of Bloomington will need to do the following:
    1. Complete an Application for Internship for the City of Bloomington. Application can be accessed from the service-learning web site. (not available yet)
    2. Complete the application from an editable PDF file.
    3. E-mail service-learning coordinator (jwillis@mccsc.edu) of your intent to apply for an internship with the City of Bloomington. The content of your e-mail should read: I (student name) wish to apply for an internship with (department). Attach the PDF file.
    4. Service-Learning coordinator will forward your request and your application to Amy Slaven, Assistant Director for Employee Services for the City of Bloomington.
    5. Employee services will work with the department heads in arranging the placement.
    6. Employee services will contact Service-Learning coordinator and student regarding possible interview times and orientation meetings for the student prior to the start of the internship.
    7. Employee Services will make final confirmation of placement.
    8. Student will provide department supervisor with required information and paperwork for the service-learning program. This information must be completed and copies provided to Employee Services prior to the start of the internship.
    9. Students are expected to follow the procedures outlined above and should not make personal contacts with departments. All placement requests must begin with Service-Learning Coordinator.


  • City of Bloomington Youth Citizens' Academy
    Student interns within the City of Bloomington will particpate in the Youth Citizens' Academy. This involves a weekly meeting with all other interns to learn about various aspects of city government. Field trips and presentions by various departments within the city are scheduled during the first semester. The final meeting/presentation/certification is with the Mayor as a culminating activity as you provide the Mayor with a report on the status of your department.
  • Monroe County Community Schools
    • Students are not allow to go to schools requesting placements.
    • Service-Learning students should make a request for a school and/or teacher on their SL application.
    • Service-Learning coordinator will make all cadet teaching and community service requests through the building principal.
