Step One- Complete Qualification Self-Check

  1. Pick up Service-Learning "Qualification self-check" from counseling office.
  2. Complete Qualification form- Parent signature required
  3. Turn in Qualification form to your counselor when you do your computer class scheduling.
  4. Late forms should be turned in to Mrs. Willis in room 312.

 

Step Two - Service Learning Program informational meeting

  1. A meeting will be scheduled in Feb/March to discuss program expectations.
  2. Students will receive an application to complete. This application is required and must be turned in by the date requested. Failure to submit this application may result in removal from the program.
  3. Parent permission form is included with the application and must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian.
  4. Applications will be reviewed by service-learning coordinators and a determination will be made on the acceptance into the program.
  5. Coordinators will make arrangements for placements based upon the student application. Student placement requests should be in line with their career goals.
  6. Students that turn in applications past the deadline may risk being removed from the program.
  7. Applications should be turned in to room 312.

Step Three - Arranging for a placment

  1. Students will make suggestions and recommendations for placements on their application.
  2. Students should not arrange their own placement.
  3. Students that have conversations with local businesses and organizations about potential internships should direct them North's service-learning website. This allows them to obtain more information about our program or allows them to contact either Mrs. Willis or Mr. Muehlhaus with inquiries about our program.
  4. All placements are made and confirmed by the service-learning program directors.
  5. Special application procedures must be followed for internships with the City of Bloomington, Bloomington Hospital, and any MCCSC schools.

Step Four - Finalize placement

  1. It is our goal to have the majority of placements confirmed 2 weeks prior to the start of the school year.
  2. This will require students to be in contact with the service-learning coordinators before the current year and/or summer ends.
