Cougar Football Family,

Football season is upon us!  Our young men have put in months of hard work preparing for this season and we are finally at the fun part.  I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all newcomers to our Football Family.

As we kick of this season I would like to make sure that I cover a few reminders:

  1. The first official practice is Midnight Madness.  This is a mandatory practice for all Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.  Freshmen are invited to participate and more than welcome, however, we understand if Freshmen are not able to make it.  Parents, families and friends are also invited to come out and enjoy the festivities.  Players will report to their locker room at 10:30 on Sunday, 8/3 for a meeting prior to practice.  We will practice from Midnight – 1:30 a.m.  All physical forms must be turned in prior to the first practice!!  Players who have not turned in physicals will not be allowed to practice, and will be sent home.
  1. The next practice session will be Monday 8/4 at 3:30.  This is a 90 Minute practice.  Practice times for the remainder of the week are 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  1. Live-in Camp for all Sophmores, Juniors and Seniors will begin on Wednesday, 8/6.    Players will bring all of their bedding and supplies to the gym prior to the Tuesday afternoon practice.  When they arrive for practice on Wednesday morning, they will be staying at school until after the Saturday morning practice.
  1. The Maroon & Gold scrimmage will be Saturday, 8/9 at 7:00 at Dennis O. Martin Field.
  1. Players are expected to be at all practices.  We do have a certified athletic trainer on staff.  If a player is injured they are expected to be at practice and will be under the care of the athletic trainer.  If an emergency arises that prevents your son from attending practice please contact Coach Bless (Varsity/JV) or Coach Butler (Freshmen) using the numbers provided on the season schedule.

When we speak of a “Football Family” we are expressing our goal of having everyone involved in our program committed to and feeling a part of our Success.  It takes more than just players and coaches to build a program.  As parents we hope you feel a part of that success, and hope that you feel that our program is something that is happening for you son, and not to your son.   If at any time a concern arises, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  Thanks in advance for your support and commitment.

Yours in football,

Scott
