July 9, 2008
Meeting called to order by President M’Lissa Baye at 6:31 p.m.

Coach Bless:
- Jamie Pratt will serve out his term on the 12th Man Club Board despite the fact his son is no longer playing.
- Proposed the idea to conduct weekly Monday night game film showings for parents beginning August 25 – Board approved idea and will announce via meetings, website, and listserv.
Old Business:
- Class parent reps need to make an effort to contact parents with outstanding player pack payments.
- Website will be updated this month and will include Northside Football Donor form.

- M’Lissa will discuss the possibility of having the Booster Club open the concession stand the night of the Maroon/Gold game at the next Booster Club meeting.

Announcements
- Request made by M’Lissa Baye to purchase two boxes of photo paper for Michael Huerta in appreciation for his donations to the players in the form of a photograph of each player and a CD of team action photographs for each player also. Request approved unanimously.
- Webmaster, Ray Foster, will post the email address and phone number of all 12th Man Club board members on the Club website.
- April board meeting will be scheduled for either April 2 or 9.
- Floral arrangement sent to the funeral of Angie Chalfant’s stepfather (Jimmy Qualters’ grandfather) on behalf of the 12th Man Club. Angie served as the Club’s secretary for two years.
- Chart distributed entitled; 12th Man Survey Respondents from the surveys completed at the end of year banquet. Volunteers are listed according to committee and class.
Coach Bless
- Champion’s Club will now be referred to as the Victor’s Club.
- Lift Contest and Max Outs will be posted in the locker room and web site.

- Club will need the sale of at least 10 new banners instead of 5
- Motion to accept revised budget made by Rick Crouch with a second by Jamie Pratt. Motion passed.
- Spirit Committee –
- Amy Foster agreed to chair this committee
- Game Sponsorship Committee –
- Members include Rick Crouch, Jamie Pratt, and Karen Elmer.
- Goal is to have sponsors in place by August.
- Committee will meet to discuss what a game sponsorship will include and bring their ideas back to the board during the April meeting.
New Business
- Apparel Committee chairman, Don Bowman, proposed the use of a local company called My Sports Locker for the sale of Northside Football apparel.
- The company will attend major football events such as the mandatory parent meeting, midnight madness, and intrasquad scrimmage.
- My Sports Locker will handle the process of taking orders, collecting payment, and delivery of orders.
- Don will finalize details and present during April Board Meeting.
- M’Lissa Baye suggested the club continue to use Mr. Hardin to produce player decals and yard signs.
- Coach Bless stated a preference to continue ordering Adidas wear for team apparel.
- Melanie Fitzgerald will research the idea of purchasing a cushioned seat with the Cougar logo for the football games and the logistics of offering an option for a reserved seat to fans.
- Parent Meeting Preparation – need to provide parents with as much information as possible. Folders will be assembled with the following items:

- Greg Deckard asked the board about possibly using the North alumni database to market the 12th Man Club through mailings and emails for their 35th class reunions and 35th BHSN anniversary. General consensus of the group was to allow this exposure of the club to North Alumni.

Treasurer’s Report
Presented by M’Lissa Baye.
- An expenditure of $105.50 was incurred for pizza for incoming freshman and current football players who attended the BHSN basketball game.
- Fundraising income will no longer include IU Basketball or Marsh cards.
- Kroger cards available from Amy Foster for $5.00.

Coach’s Report
- Champions Club Incentive Program
- May be earned 4 times a year – preseason, season, post season, and off season.
- Criteria:
- 90% attendance rate at weight lifting (athlete will be counted present if attending practice or event for another BHSN sport)
- 90% school attendance (no more than 5 tardies)
- Grades - C or above
- Reward will be gold apparel and “CC” decal for helmet
- Coach Bless is asking the 12th Man Club to purchase the apparel – Initial estimated cost will be $252.00.
- Motion to fund Champions Club Incentive Program by Jamie Pratt.
Old Business
- Chairpersons needed for Spirit and Game Sponsorship Committees.
- Spirit Committee would include decals, yard signs, fun incentives, and schedule poster.
- Game Sponsorship Committee – suggested chairperson: Rick Crouch. Game sponsorship would sell for $500.00 per game and could include things such as an ad on the back cover of the game program and an announcement during each quarter.
- Kirkwood Photo takes annual football photos and is interested in printing senior banners.
- Dialogue will be initiated by Coach Bless with the BHSN Booster Club and other sports regarding program options.
- Class Representatives needed to serve as parent liaisons and organize parent helpers for the Thursday night dinners during the season.
New Business
- Recommendation made to include away game food payment in with the practice pack payment. Practice pack includes shirt, mouthpiece, shorts, socks, bag, and practice jersey for JV and Varsity players. Check would be made out to The 12th Man Club and turned in to Coach Bless.
- M’Lissa Baye distributed tentative 2008 calendars.
- Mandatory Parent Meeting scheduled for April 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym.
- Lift-a-Thon will take place Monday February 25 thru March 7. Players will solicit donations.
- Proposed budget for 2008 presented. Add Champions Club as $1500 expense. To be voted on at March meeting.

January 9, 2008

The meeting was called to order by President Chad Huck at 6:15 p.m.
Board Transition
Chad presented the slate of nominees for officer elections. They were: President – M’Lissa Baye; Vice-President – Rick Crouch; Treasurer – Amy Foster; Secretary – Helen Melwid; Webmaster – Ray Foster. Chad made a motion to accept the slate of officers as presented. Theresa seconded the motion, a vote was taken. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report
Amy Foster reported income of $311 from Kroger cards and $1,000 check from Monroe County Fairgrounds for our work at the County Fair last summer. Expenditures included banquet costs, three coaching stipends of $650 each and weight room equipment. A donation was made to cover the cost of the highlight DVD. Total assets reported is $7,265.93
Coach’s Report
Coach Bless reported that the team would not be working the IU basketball games this year because of some of the late start times and Sunday game dates on the schedule. He also reported that off-season weightlifting had begun with boys lifting M, T, Th, afternoons and F mornings. Lift-a-thon dates are 2/25 – 3/9. Weightlifting competition date still is to be determined. Moratorium Week is 6/30 – 7/6. Live-in Camp begins 8/6 a.m. and breaks 8/9 a.m. Midnight Madness will be Monday, 8/4 at 12:01 a.m.
Old Business
Banners – M’Lissa reported that thank you letters to the banner businesses will be prepared and sent out in January. Banners will be rehung in March prior to the first home track meet.
Website – The website looks great and remains a valuable tool for the team and the club. M’Lissa asked Ray to update some of the older material.
New Business
Winter Meetings – There will be no general membership meetings in February or March. Those will begin in April. The board only will meet at some point in time.
Class Representatives – The club needs additional class representation. The club welcomes parents, Laura Lawson, Karen Elmer and Greg Deckard as new board members. Returning reps are Jamie Pratt, Mindy Tieken, Ron Arthur and Joe VanDeventer. M’Lissa said a phone tree will hopefully be developed this year to aid in contacting parents about club and team events.
Spirit Chairperson – We have tough shoes to fill from Barba Baer, but both Theresa and Barba suggested Ellen Rinnart as her replacement. Ellen will be contacted to determine interest. She will handle the sale of decals and yard signs.
Contact List – M’Lissa will put together a contact list for use by the board and committee chairpersons. A list was started of those present.
Financial Outline – M’Lissa presented a financial outline from 2007 to help the board determine a budget for 2008. Work will begin on this and a proposed budget presented to the board at one of the next meetings.
Planning Calendars – M’Lissa is in the process of gathering dates of events for a planning calendar to distribute to all board members.
Men’s Challenge – M’Lissa will contact Joe Qualters to determine if he will again coordinate this year’s challenge. He, M’Lissa and Coach Bless will determine a date, usually in May.
Volunteers – We have lots of events to coordinate and many volunteers will be needed. M’Lissa will contact Don Bowman about heading up the apparel sales this year. It was suggested that the sales begin earlier so the merchandise will arrive in a more timely manner.
Other – One of the parents in attendance asked about Coach Bless providing some information about sports nutrition and decision making . M’Lissa will contact Coach Bless about presenting these topics to the players.
