"We enthusiastically believe

On August 26, 1997, this 3000 pound (Indiana Bybee) Limestone Sign
was set in place, at the Kinser Pike school entrance,
to mark the existence of Bloomington High School North.
The gift for BHSN and generations to come, was presented to
the Monroe County Community School Corporation Board of Directors.
Seven ALUMNI and friends, enthusiastically worked together
for over a year,
to organize, supply materials, design lettering,
carve, haul, deliver, and set the gift in place.
This legacy was also carved on the back, to signify the accomplishment
by these schoolmates,
of their pride in their school:
During the Fall of 1996, the Football field was
dedicated and named
in memory of Principal Dennis Martin,
who passed away the previous year.
He started with BHSN as Assistant Principal, the year of the school's inception in 1972.
BHSN Alumni donated this (Indiana Bybee) Limestone Sign
in honor and memory of Dennis Martin, to celebrate his life,
yet grieve the loss of this
known and respected man.
It is located inside the fence at the Football field.
This collaborative project took months
to organize,
write the inscription, supply materials, design lettering,
carve, haul, deliver, and set in place.
BHSN Alumni proudly and generously worked for this accomplishment.
