Astronomy / Space Research Report

Purpose:

To research an astronomy related topic of your choosing and create a scientific research report. The proper citing of intellectual property using the MLA format for parenthetical citations is required.

Report Requirements:

Write a 3 to 4 page report of an astronomy related topic of your choosing. The report must be typed and include appropriate parenthetical citations. The font must be Times New Roman 12 point and single spaced. At the end of the report, you may have one page of attachments that may include pictures, maps or figures. A bibliography is required that must include at least 2 printed sources and 2 electronic sources. Additionally, either create a three fold brochure that highlights the major points of interest regarding your report or a draft/outline report. Either is due 1 week prior to the report. This report is worth 70 points.

Report Due Date: Thursday 10/18/ 07 (50 points)

Page Layouts: Following is the expected order and content of pages for the astronomy report.

Cover Page - includes the student information (name, block, period color & date), the report title, and a picture (optional)

Body of the 3-4 Page Report - This is up to you to decide and depends on the topic you choose. The report must be about a scientific topic with established and pre-existing credible research. See me if you have any questions. Remember to cite your sources in the text using parenthetical citations.

Page of Attachments - One page of pictures, maps, graphs or figures.

Bibliography - List all sources of information used or referenced while researching your report. This must include citations for all pictures, web pages, encyclopedias, and books. Include at least 2 printed and 2 electronic sources.

Use the MLA format provided by the Jackson Creek library.
