Ways You Can Serve

Home Service Being a Better Citizen
There are many ways you can serve your community. Here are some ways:
  • Recycle reusable goods. Everybody has to breathe, right? So why not reduce the amount of paper you use, reuse whatever paper you can so you don't have to get out a new sheet every time, then recycle whatever you can't use anymore? Recycling paper will help save trees from being cut down. It's simple!
  • Don't steal or shoplift. Stealing is just plain wrong. Shoplifting just increases the price for future customers. Why should people pay extra money because other people in their town are dishonest? Not only are you hurting people in your community by shoplifting, but you are also hurting yourself. You'll always have a guilty conscience because you took something that was not yours.
  • You can join volunteer organizations such as the Lions Club. They are a non-profit organization that helps the poor, the hungry, the blind, and other people in need. When Hurricane Katrina victims lost their eyeglasses to the water, Lions Club members helped out hundreds of people by collecting and donating glasses to those who needed them.
  • Lend a helping hand. Something as simple as helping carry groceries for someone who needs help can mean a lot to that person. You can also mow lawns, shovel snow, or get the mail for someone. It does not take that much time out of the day, and you'll feel good afterwards knowing that you helped someone.
