ROLES FOR MONROE IPM MODEL IMPLEMENTATION TEAM MEMBERS

Regional or national

·         Program coordinator – initiates each step of the implementation process, facilitates TEAM communication, sets agendas, organizes trainings, conducts first and last evaluation, provides management recommendations, plays politics and writes the reports

 

·         Funding agency rep (e.g., USEPA HQ and/or Regional OPP) - provides agency expectations, facilitates funding, promotes expansion of the program internally

 

·         Pest management professional – conducts technical assessments, provides technical recommendations, conducts training for staff and local PCOs

 

·         Peer facilities manager – conducts management and cost audit, facilitates administrative communication, tells the “IPM story” from an insider point of view.

 

·         Peer IPM coordinator – assists in technical assessment and training, facilitates staff communication, tells the “IPM story” from an insider point of view

Statewide

·         State Lead Agency (SLA) – provides local funding, regulatory hammer, and facilitates industry communication, responsible for statewide expansion with CE

 

·         Cooperative Extension – provides local situation analysis, assists in all forms of assessment and training, responsible for statewide expansion with SLA

 

·         Activist – stimulates action, provides checks/balances, and local support

District

·         On-site IPM coordinator – bi-weekly or monthly, technical assessments, monitoring and education of school staff (particularly regarding conducive conditions and pest logs), responsible for the distribution of newsletters, and pesticide application notification.

 

·         Current pest manager or contractor – can apply pesticides, same responsibilities as the On-site IPM Coordinator, but not newsletters, or notifications

 

·         District decision maker – provides political support within the school district, makes the decision to expand and provides funding for expansion.

 

·         Facilities administrator – coordinates pest management services, staff training and conducive condition re-mediation – particular to custodial and maintenance staff

 

·         Food service administrator - same as facilities administrator, but particular to food service

 

·         Principal in each school – “site-based administration” they tell the local staff and faculty the way it will be – mostly cultural control

 

·         Custodial super in each school – works with the PCO and/or Coordinator regarding cultural and mechanical control

 

·         Kitchen super in each school – same as above but particular to kitchen staff

 

·         Public information officer (PIO, PR) – PR for expansion and reward – political management
