BUS RULES

• Follow the bus driver's directions at all times.
• Get on the bus quickly and take your assigned seat.
• Remain seated, facing forward.
• Keep your feet out of the aisle.
• Keep your hands, feet, books, pencils, etc. to yourself.
• Talk in a quiet voice.
• No eating or drinking on the bus.
• Remain seated upon arrival at school
• RIDING THE SCHOOL BUS IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT.

The Board of School Trustees has established "non transported areas" for each school. The board policy states that bus transportation is not provided for those areas within a 1 mile radius for Kindergarten through 6th grade, a 1.5 mile radius for Grades 7 through 12. Bus transportation is a privilege extended to those students who live outside of the "non transported areas" or where a safety factor is concerned.

Only children enrolled in the Monroe County Community School Corporation may be transported on a school bus. If a parent decides to exercise the free choice option to an out-of-district school, the parent assumes the obligation for transportation.

Parents are asked to familiarize themselves with the bus safety guidelines and rules of conduct. They are also asked to make their children aware that they must follow the bus driver's directions. Bus drivers will treat all students in a civil manner and will see that no student is imposed upon or mistreated while on the bus. Students should not get off at a stop other then their own. Exceptions must be signed by a parent and a principal and given to the bus driver. Exceptions are good for one day only unless otherwise approved.

If your child has a specific medical problem (asthma, epilepsy, etc.), please be sure that the bus driver is made aware of that problem. Any additional questions or concerns can be addressed to the Transportation Department at 330-7719.
