I hope your final year of elementary school is one that you will find challenging and rewarding. The Math, Science, and Health series of textbooks selected for use are the same ones used in the local middle schools. The transition next year will be much easier for you.
Mr. Love, Mr. York, and I will each be working with every sixth grader. We will switch for Reading, Math, and Language Arts classes. Each student will remain with his/her homeroom teacher for Science and Social Studies.

Attendance:
A parent or guardian is expected to notify the school if the student is to be absent. If no phone call (825-3009) or written note is received, the absence will be recorded as unexcused.
Missed work due to absences:
For each day a student is absent, I will record all assignments on an assignment sheet, and include any handouts. This will be placed in a student's mailbox, or, by request, be made available if a parent/guardian elects to pick up the assignments at school. Students have the same number of days to complete and turn in any missed assignments as days they were absent.
Homework:
There will be homework most days. Unless a special project is being worked on, the assignments should not take more than an hour to complete at this grade level. Classwork/homework counts as 50% of a student's grade, so it is very important for students to complete this work. I seldom collect work on the day it is assigned, so anything not completed during time provided in class automatically becomes homework and is expected to be completed for the next day.
Grading:
Overall grades are weighted so that classwork/homework counts as 50% of the grade, and tests/quizzes count as the other 50%. Progress reports are sent home to parents on a regular basis. Parents may be asked to sign and return these reports in an attempt to be sure they are being seen. Please contact me at school at anytime if you are concerned about your student's progress and have not received a progress report.
Behavior:
Students are expected to behave in a manner that is respectful of others, and the property of others, including the school. Students will not be permitted to
disrupt the learning of other students.
