PHILOSOPHY:
To be available and accessible to receive student's, to advocate for them and to meet their needs with care and compassion. To maximize student/counselor interactions by seeing student's who sign up for assistance, by responding to parent, teacher and administration requests for intervention and to seek out student's, in an effort provide them with a safe forum to address academic, social, emotional and/or personal concerns.GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Tri-North Counseling Office has an open door policy, ready to receive student's as they need services. Student's can sign up to see a Counselor in the Counseling Office and in most cases are seen the same day they sign in. If a student feels it is an emergency, they should indicate that on the sign in sheet or tell a Counselor. Most often what a student shares with a Counselor is confidential, however there are some exceptions.
Parents and Guardians, please do not hesitate to communicate your concerns or questions to your adolescent's Counselor by phone or e-mail. You will receive a response as quickly as possible. Please continue to stay involved in your adolescent's academic, social and emotional life. You know your adolescent best, I am here to provide support, guidance and assistance as needed.PERSONAL INFORMATION:
I have been a Counselor at Tri-North since August 1994. This year I changed my full-time status to part time so I could pursue developing a private practice. I have a B.S. degree in Health Promotion & Wellness from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point - 1988 and a M.S. degree in Counseling from Indiana University-Bloomington - 1992. I am also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Indiana.
I am married to Steve Snyder and have two grown children, Elizabeth and Ed, two step children Marnie and Collin, and two grandchildren Merric and Gaia.
When I'm not working, I can be found running, taking pictures, gardening, camping, traveling, reading, playing with my dogs Sarge & Sadie or creating something in my kitchen..
