I am originally from Belleville, Illinois. Indiana University drew me to Bloomington in 1997, where I completed my bachelor's in Secondary Social Studies Education. While I was at IU, I enjoyed working for the student radio station, WIUS (now called WIUX at 99.1 FM) and dancing with the IU RedSteppers. I loved classes in the History and Political Science Department at IU - they made me think and inspired me to become the best teacher I could be. Before becoming a Social Studies teacher at Batchelor, I student taught at Bloomington High School North under Steve Philbeck, one of the best teachers in town. I was also a substitute teacher for almost every school and probably every grade and subject in Monroe County. Besides being a teacher at Batchelor, I enjoyed coaching the dance team, and still look forward to seeing the girls who were on my teams, as they grow up and graduate from high school and beyond. I invite my former students to come by my office any time to catch up!
I was a member of the MCCSC/IU Teacher Leadership Cohort from 2006 - 2008. This was a dynamic group of MCCSC
teachers pursuing their Masters degrees together. I earned mine in
Teacher Leadership and also earned my administrator's license at the
same time. At the same time, I was preparing for a baby boy, Aden, to arrive. He did so on October 1, 2007.
I am very excited to switch from teaching to administration at Batchelor. I love the school, our faculty, staff, families and students. An educator could not ask for a more inviting, hard-working, fun group of people with whom to work - I am lucky to be at Batchelor. I hope that our students feel the same way!
Finally, here are some of my favorite Benjamin Franklin quotes (my personal hero):
"An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest."
"Energy and persistence conquer all things."
"Genius without education is like silver in the mine."
