Time  Line

On January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, Martin Luther King Jr. was born.  He graduated Morehouse College in 1948.  He married Coretta Scott in 1953.  Dr. King’s house was bombed in 1956.  Dr. King publishes his first book , Stride Toward Freedom in 1958.  Dr. King gives his “I have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 1963.  Dr. King is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.  Dr. King is assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968. Martin  Luther King Jr. Day is declared a national holiday in the U.S.
