Description:

Camp Voyageur mixes in-camp fun with real wilderness camping. Over the last 50 years we’ve found it takes four weeks for boys to adjust to the rigors of camp life, master camping skills and grow stronger. Short excursions prepare campers for the challenge of longer trips. Sessions revolve around a core in-camp program of land and water sports coupled with canoe, kayak and backpacking trips into the nearby wilderness.

Diabetes The American Diabetes Association's Camp John Warvel

The American Diabetes Association sponsors CAMP JOHN WARVEL in order to provide an enjoyable, safe and educational out-of-doors experience for children with insulin-dependent diabetes. With an emphasis on fun, Camp Warvel offers a unique learning atmosphere for children to acquire (according to their developmental levels) new skills in caring for their disease. The camp experience instills confidences for the self-management of diabetes.

In addition to meeting the special medical, dietary, and educational needs of each child, camp offers exposure to peers who are facing similar situations with their diabetes. Positive attitudes toward coping with diabetes are nurtured through encouragement and example.

Description:

The High School Journalism Institute (HSJI) at Indiana University is designed for students who have accepted a position in high school media or for those interested in learning about journalism. The total cost of tuition, which includes housing and meals, textbooks, and all other academic expenses, is $3225. Partial scholarships based on academic merit and financial need are awarded by the Junior Statesmen Foundation.

Description:

Admission to The Junior Statesmen Summer School is competitive. Acceptance decisions are based on academic achievement, leadership ability, maturity, and interest in politics and government. Summer school classes are structured to develop your knowledge of political systems, your ability to speak and write persuasively, and your appreciation for intellectual and ethical principles. Core courses, offered at all five sessions of the Summer School, include Advanced Placement American Government and Congressional Workshop, a debate practicum. Month-long sessions at Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Northwestern also offer an honors course in Speech Communication.

For students who have successfully completed an AP or honors course in American Government or U.S. History, we offer an Advanced Curriculum. Advanced government courses include U.S. Foreign Policy, Constitutional Law, AP Comparative Government, Political Philosophy, The Presidency and AP Economics. Each is offered at one or more of the five Summer School sessions.

Description:

The program will consist of lectures, film, panels, and group discussions as well as informal talks on important issues of the day. An in-depth inquiry will be made into the most perplexing problems facing the world today. (The structured part of the daily schedule is designed to stimulate informal discussions at meal time or evening rap sessions in the residence hall lounges.) Special activities of an international flavor will be featured throughout this week. Exhibits by foreign students will reveal the many cultures represented at the Sminar.
