What is this web page about?

• Web pages inform, entertain, advertise, influence, or notify.
• The purpose of the web page needs to be understood easily and to be expressed clearly.
• Web pages have a wide audience, but sometimes web pages are designed for a specific group of people or age group.

What is the URL?

• The Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is the address of the web site.
• The URL indicates where the web site is located and what is the type of web site.

Types of Web Pages:

• Informational- gov, edu, mil
• News- com
• Association- org, edu
• Personal- com, aol, edu (usually a ~ is associated with it).
• Commercial- com
• Educational- edu, or a 2- digit country or origin code (i.e. .uk, .au, .ca).

Pick one of these sites and see if it meets the PURPOSE criteria.
