Fitness and the Olympics

In the spring of 2004, the Foundation of Monroe County Community Schools awarded Jackson Creek Middle School the Fitness, Health and Wellness Challenge Grant. The Fitness and the Olympics grant was designed to show students how various subjects contain aspects of fitness, health, and wellness. Library books, heart monitors, measuring tapes, and a magnetic jump and reach board were purchased through this grant.

Students learned that fitness is an understanding of the mind and an acceptance and need for maintaining a fit life. The grant taught students that fitness and wellness can be found in other subjects. Students and teachers in Science, Language Arts, Physical Education, and Mathematics participated in the grant.
