Jackson Creek Middle School
Comic Book Examples
Students at Jackson Creek Middle School learned about
the creative format of comic books in the fall of 2002. Two teachers, Ms. McQueen
and Ms. Zock, asked their students to design comic books that discussed how to solve a
particular problem. Ms. McQueen's 8th grade Art and Artists class illustrated the
stories that Ms. Zock's 7th grade Language Arts classes wrote. The students from both
classes met two or three times through a three week time frame. Each student heard
Ms. McGlaun, the media specialist, introduce the concept and examined examples of comic
books.
