Inside 3D Studio MAX
Inside 3D Studio MAX: Volume II
is an extremely helpful tutorial for (you guessed it!) 3D Studio
MAX. Expanding on the techniques learned in Vol. I, Vol. II includes
information on NURBS (non-uniform rational B-splines), Metaball modeling,
a
section
for Real Time 3D Games, and other useful topics. Filled with screen-shots
to help illustrate examples, this tutorial is up-to-date with methods and
short-cuts. However, this was written before 3D Studio MAX version
2.0 appeared on the market, so it may be a little incompatible for the
newest features. If you skip the first Volume and go directly to
this one, bear in mind that the authors have assumed that the readers have
an expansive knowledge of 3D Studio MAX's functions. Reading the
first Volume is highly recommended, as the second expands on the first.
This reference book includes a CD filled
with examples, plug-ins like Electrolyze by Harry Denholm, and useful programs
such as 4D Paint by 4D Vision and Clay Studio by Digimation. If you
don't feel like slogging all the way through it, the layout is as such
that you can read one section, oh say Metaball Modeling, and not need to
read the other sections like 3d Mesh painting. The CD also includes
tutorials and scenes for extended examples. Easy to read and use,
this book is a must for budding artists.
