The book "Nerilka's Story”, written by Anne McCaffrey, Is a recounting of the deadly epidemic that ravaged the planet of Pern near the end of the Sixth Pass of the Red Star. Nerilka, currently Lady Holder of Ruatha Hold, tells this tale.  Now first of all I need to give you some background information on the story so that it will be easier to understand.[possibly add the intro. info here]  Nerilka was not always the Lady Holder of Ruatha, in fact she used to be the unappreciated daughter of Lord Tolocamp who was at that time the Lord Holder of Fort Hold.  Lord Tolocamp, and some of his family were in Ruatha during the outbreak of the plague.  Against the orders of Master Healer Capiam he broke the quarantine and returned to his Hold leaving his wife and daughters behind. No longer able to stand living in her father’s hold after he had callously left her mother and sisters in peril at Ruatha, Nerilka goes to help the sick in the intermittent camp outside Fort Hold.  Now I won't tell you the entire story, but I will tell you that after a number of adventures she finally comes to "Ruined Ruatha Hold" which was hit hardest by the plague.  Here she is determined to return Ruatha Hold to its former beauty.  This book is best read in conjunction with "Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern" because they both take place during the same time period in Perns History.  I strongly suggest that you read this book and the others in this series if you are interested in dragons and exciting adventures.
