Students carried out their daily reading activities. Planners were graded, and numerous students are not utilizing this resources.

Student composed a summary illustrating what they believe is the causation for low performance thus far at North (only if it pertains). 5x8 cards were utilized for this exercise.

Oct 10 G-1  

Math tutoring was available in class. Students conducted 20 minutes of silent reading. Key terms presented to the students today were: tolerance, racism, ethnicity, and prejudice. Student held discussion on groups such as the KKK and options on how to deal with such groups.

Began discussions on investments. Introduced the concept of purchasing ownership in a company.

Students discussed the importance of giving one's best individual effort. Importance of reflecting daily on what went right, what went wrong, and what can I do to get better.

Newspaper reading exercise. Students were given an opportunity to read the newspaper in class and then discuss a story of interest. The students were graded utilizing the oral presentation rubric.

The learner will apply SQ3R to the textbook reading assignments: A Visit to Ancient Rome, Political Parties, What Europeans Found. This will be a group assignment.

Feb 7 G-1   Using the real-world context of two sisters separated at the starting line of the Bay to Breakers foot race, this episode introduces students to linear systems. The sisters run at different paces and begin the race at different times. By looking at graphs of each runner's progress plotted on the same distance versus time graph, we see a single point of intersection. This point represents the time and place where both runners will meet during the race. Complete problems in class

Mar 4 G-1   Guest speaker from the International Business College, Ms. Spicer. She presented information about their college. In addition gave an outstanding presentation on listening skills. Some of the exercises included verbal instructions and the utilization of maps. Complete rough note worksheet during class activities.

NEFE High School Financial Planning Program. Students will be issued a workbook that is a guide to life skills necessary to be successful in the 21st Century.

Today the students will spent approximately 30 minutes of class time working on their Family Financial Packet. The remainder of the class time was spent working on Unit 1, Financial Planning, Your Roadmap. Step One: Set Goals; Step Two: Analyze Information; Step Three: Create a Plan; Step Four: Implement the plan; Step Five: Monitor and Modify the plan. At the end of this unit, students will be able to answer: What are the five steps in the financial planning process? What is the difference between needs and wants? How does one set SMART goals? What does personal financial responsibility mean?.
