Mary Ludwig Hays (Molly Pitcher)
Mary is famous for her actions in the battle of Monmouth where when her husband fell she took over the cannon and started firing.
After her gallant night, George Washington gave her the title of “Captain Molly.”
Mary is also famous for moving to the battle field and giving the dehydrated men water.
