Examples of Original Propaganda

Here is some original propaganda based on the writing styles of Thomas Paine and James Chalmers.  Thomas Paine's writing had a great deal of emotion in it and it appealed to the common people.  On the other hand James Chalmers' writing was dry and appealed to scholars.  Even though my propaganda is about lunch, I hope that people will see how it relates to propaganda written during the Revolutionary War.

Sensible Thinking

By: Thomas Painintherear

The students of Stonewall Stream Middle School should rebel against Queen Noble.  She has taken away most of our freedoms at lunch time.  She doesn’t let us sit with whomever we want, except at the beginning of the grading period.  Then Queen Noble, the tyrant that she is, makes us sit at that table with those people for the whole grading period.  The evil Queen Noble also makes us stay at our tables during lunch, which we do not like.  We want the right to change tables when and as often as we want.  We should have the right to talk and eat with more of our friends at lunch.  Also, we should have the right to go outside after we eat so we can play in the grass with our friends and forget about the boring, awful time we spend in the classrooms.   "Down with the tyrant Queen Noble" is the word we will spread!

Unembellished Veracity

By: James Bossalot

The students of Stonewall Stream should follow the rules set by Queen Noble.  The freedom that the rebellious and unruly students want will cause a great deal of trouble for the school.  If the students get the “right to talk and eat with more of our friends at lunch,” they may decide that they want to expand that right into the time spent in the classroom.  That would interfere with the learning that the students need to do.  Also, the students might get out of hand and cause trouble for the teachers and other staff.  If  the students  “have the right  to go outside after we eat so we can play in the grass with our friends, and forget about the boring, awful time we spend in the classrooms,” ask yourselves how will the teachers be able to get the students back inside in time to get back to class.  Finally, the Queen and her teachers most assuredly know how to run the school better than the students do.
