John Paul Jones
John Paul Jones was born on July 6, 1747.
At the age of 13, he went to sea in the brig of the Friendship to learn the art of seamanship.
At the age of 21, he received his first command with the Brig John.
He began raiding British ports in 1777.
He sailed in an old French ship that Ben Franklin obtained for him.
His ship was torn apart and yet he still fought the war long and hard.
His next ships name was Bonhomme Richard.
He often referred to himself as a "citizen of the world.”
In 1779 the British’s HMS Serapis surrendered
