Martin Luther King Jrs Dream

Excerpts from Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, as well as many actions across his unfortunately abbreviated life, make it very clear that Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream was for those of different races to have equal rights.

For example, King wishes “that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.” In addition, he said that he dreams “that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Both of these quotes describe how much Martin Luther King Jr. wished and hoped for equality in America and throughout the world.

Although some racial tension remains in our country today, his actions set the tone for future generations. Had this man not stand up for what he believed in, our country might still have been at the point where one ethnic group was clearly favored over the other both in its common laws and is social standards.
