martin Luther King JR. was born January 15, 1929. he was born in Atlanta, Georgia.
His grandfather was the first of his families
long line of pastors. Martin became co pastor of the family church in 1960 he
served there until his death. IN MARTINS YOUTH HE ATENDED SEGRAGATED PUBLIC SCHOOLS, HE WAS
FIFTEEN WHEN HE GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL. HE THEN WENT TO COLLEGE AND GOT A BATCHLORS DEGREE. IN
1953 HE GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE WITH A DOCTORATE, HE WAS ALSO THE PRESIDENT OF A
MOSTLY WHITE CLASS. IN BOSTIN HE MARRIED
CORETTA SCOTT AFTER MEETING HER THERE.
IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEAR THEY HAS TWO SONS AND TWO DAUGHTERS. BY 1954 KING
WAS THE PART OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE
ADVANCEMENT OF BLACK PEOPLE. In December, 1955 he accepted the leader ship of
the first major African American nonviolent demonstration of modern times.
King lead the bus boycott to protest segregation
on the city busses. For 382 days almost no negroes rode the bus. This heavy
damaged the buss system because the majority of riders were black. On December 21, 1956 the supreme
court dreamed it unconstitutional to have laws requiring the segregation of
buses. These times were not all good for king though, during the boycott,
king’s home was bombed, he was arrested, and he was personally assaulted. But
by that time he was the leader of the whole civil rights movement.
