American Heroes: Frank Lloyd Wright
Influence on America
![]() |
Frank Lloyd Wright has influenced American architecture in
a way that will always be seen. One can see his influence in one way or another. The
largest area of influence has been the American homes. Frank believed that America should have its own architecture and that it should not be influenced by European styles. This led him to develop the idea of the open floor plans and homes suited to American lifestyles. Frank also believed that the architecture should reflect individual needs of the client, the native materials available, and the nature of the site. This thinking led him to develop what he called organic architecture. This idea showed in many of his works. |
Frank's ideas spread throughout America and even the world through other architects. One way that this happened was at Frank's school called Taliesin in Arizona. Many young architects studied with Frank at Taliesin and were introduced to ideas such as organic architecture. Frank's architecture has also been spread throughout the world by his work. Other architects have studies Frank's work and ideas and incorporated them into their own work. This is how Frank's work and ideas have influenced America and been spread throughout the world.
