Sojourner Truth

What is an American Hero?

There are a  lot of different ideas of what is an American hero.  There can not be just one because our country is so diverse and has so many different ethnicities. Some qualities of a good American are:

• Selfless

• Honest

• Trustworthy

• Respectful

• Brave

• Loving

Martin Luther King, Jr. is one individual who has all these characteristics.  He is an American hero who fought for civil rights for all. Long before his March on Montgomery or his "I Have a Dream" speech, there were American heroes who fought for civil rights for all men and women.  Sojourner Truth is one such hero.

Sojourner Truth is good example of an American hero because she went through a lot of rough times with racism. She always stood up for what she believed in and always defended what she did.
