Jackie Robinson: First African American in Baseball

Welcome to the Jackie Robinson Home Page.

Why is Jackie Robinson an American well-deserving of honor?

Jackie Robinson is a good American because he was willing to do whatever he could to help desegregate baseball. He was also a good American because what he did was not only desegregate baseball, but helped to start the change in America that caused the country to realize that blacks were just as much people as were whites.   Just like Martin Luther King, Jr., Jackie believed all men are equal and should be treated as equals.

Some examples of why Jackie Robinson  was a good American was that he was willing to go along with a plan that he thought had no hope of succeeding, but he still stuck with it. He also showed that he was a good American by enduring endless amounts of taunts and jeers from his teammates, the fans, and the other teams, without retaliation. This is why I think that Jackie Robinson is a good American.
