On July 6, 1906 a boy by the name of LeRoy Robert
Paige was born in Mobile, Alabama.
In 1913 at the age of seven, Paige acquired the name
of "Satchel." His mother decided one day that pawning
the bottles out of the neighbors' garbage was not bringing enough
pennies to the family. So his mother found him a job at the train
yard loading satchels and other things on trains. His co-workers
decided that Satchel fit him well because of his work.
In 1931, Paige gets married to Janet
Howard.
In 1943 he gets divorced to his wife Janet, and gets
re-married to Lahoma Brown.
In 1951 and has another daughter born
named Sue and in 1952 his family has another addition to the
family with his son, Robert LeRoy.
His daughter Lula Ouida is born in 1958,
then in in 1960 he has another daughter named Rita Jean.
In 1975, he becomes the subject of a movie,
Don't Look Back: The Satchel Paige Story.
In 1982, everything came to an end and LeRoy
"Satchel" Paige dies of a heart attack on June 8 in
Kansas City, Missouri.
